More Americans Support Biden But Trump’s Approval Rises Shows The Poll

Over the past week, the percentage of Americans who approve of President Donald Trump rose by 5 points. However, registered voters still supported Democrat Joe Biden for president by a small margin.

This poll, conducted on Monday and Tuesday, showed that the public is now paying very close attention to the candidates’ views on the coronavirus outbreak when compared to what they are saying about the healthcare, economy, or immigration. In fact, many people think Biden is better suited to lead the country through a deadly crisis like this.

About 45% of adults in the United States approved of Trump’s job performance, while 48% said they approved of the way he has handled the COVID-19 crisis, up by 5 and 6 points, respectively, from last week. His approval numbers have been going up and down over the last few weeks. But, it is not yet clear if the public is actually rallying around the president.

On the other hand, 45% of registered voters said they would support Biden in the Nov 3 election. Almost 40% of the participants said they would vote for Trump. Biden has maintained a marginal advantage in support among registered voters in the last four weeks.

The poll was conducted with most Americans forced indoors to protect themselves from the coronavirus that has affected more than 600,000 people in the United States and killed over 25,000.

After initially undermining the threat of the virus, Trump has now conducted a series of combative news briefings during which he has subjected reporters to a tirade for criticizing him. Biden, meanwhile, has struggled a bit to remain in the picture as the media focused on briefings by governors in some of the worst-affected states.
