President Donald Trump Is Openly Feuding With Senator Mitt Romney

When the Senate voted on the matter of President Trump’s impeachment, Senator Mitt Romney was the only Republican who voted in favor of removing the president from office.

Their hatred for each other is well known. In fact, when Trump was initially running for president in 2016, Senator Romney held a press conference rallying Republicans to vote for other candidates to give Trump no chance of winning the party’s nomination strategically.

The coronavirus outbreak within Washington D.C. has sent a number of lawmakers into isolation. Leaving only a few present to vote on all the critical pieces of legislation including a nearly $2 trillion stimulus package and has provoked discussions of potential emergency measures such as remotely voting to ensure government continuity throughout the pandemic.

Senator Romney was one of the lawmakers who put themselves in isolation after potential exposure to coronavirus.

Gee, that’s too bad,” Trump quipped in a particularly sour, sarcastic tone at a White House press briefing on Monday after a reporter said Romney was in self-isolation because of having been exposed to Senator Rand Paul, who tested positive for coronavirus.

“No, none whatsoever,” the president quickly denied that day when the reporter asked if he was being sarcastic.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday appeared to fake excitement over Sen. Mitt Romney’s announcement of his negative coronavirus test, tweeting in a smug tone about the global public health threat now raining down on members of Congress.

Sharing online an article from the ultra-right-wing media outlet Breitbart News regarding the Utah Republican’s test results, Trump tweeted: “This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!”
