The official bulk archives contain person-level fields. Election.org processes them only in a temporary refresh workspace, persists no individual contributor names, addresses, locations, ZIP codes, employers, occupations, explanations, or transaction records, and publishes named contribution aggregates only for a strict allowlist of source-classified non-individual types. The source’s filer-selected entity codes remain available as aggregate counts through the API.

The official expenditure export does not provide a payee entity-type field. Election.org persists no payee names, addresses, locations, ZIP codes, occupations, explanations, or transaction records, so every named payee is withheld rather than inferred from name formatting.

Raw TRACER archives are deleted after each refresh. The published artifact contains aggregate disclosure facts and public filer identifiers, not person-level source rows.

How this adapter keeps source claims bounded

Official source adapter

Identify the current government filing/search system and its export or API contract.

Entity resolution

Preserve state IDs and connect candidates, committees, donors, and vendors without guessing identities.

Amendment rules

TRACER publishes Amended, Amendment, and AmendedRecordID fields. This adapter deduplicates RecordID across yearly exports, excludes 5,725 contribution and 2,022 expenditure rows marked Amended=Y, and retains current originals plus current replacement rows marked Amended=N.

Fail-closed validation

Reject incomplete or structurally changed pulls before they can become public totals.
