Election.org independently locates the channel before issuing a challenge. Government email is preferred, but local governments that do not use .gov still have a safe path.
Website challenge
Place a one-time token in DNS or on an independently linked official website. The token proves control of that domain, then a reviewer matches that control to the person or authorized team.
Published office contact
Election.org calls or writes through a phone number or address already published by the responsible government or filing authority—not contact supplied only in the claim.
